Easy Northern Pike Fish Recipes

Some people love catching northern pike simply because of the fight that they give and the fact that these fighters can grow to massive lengths and widths. What several anglers do not recognize is that these fish also make great eating too. They have a status for being full of bones which is not undeserved. However many people assume that this means they are tricky to clean and to work with, something which usually could not be further from the real truth. All it takes is a little knowledge to find out how to clean them correctly and you too can enjoy this incredible fish.

The recipe for Pike with Grand Marnier has a lovely hint of orange while the fish and chips recipe is crunchy and yummy- just right for aficionados who are looking for a great classic recipe.

Pike With Grand Marnier

Ingredients:
Northern pike fillets (1 per person)
All purpose flour (for coating fillets, estimate amount you will need)
Newly ground black pepper and salt to taste
Cayenne pepper (to taste, use more if cooking larger number of fillets)
Butter to coat bottom of frying pan
1-2 shots Grand Marnier (1 for the pan, 1 for the cook)
1 c. partly skimmed milk

In a large bowl, combine flour, cayenne, pepper and salt. Adjust seasoning to taste. Place milk in a different bowl.
Dip fillets in milk and roll in flour mixture to coat.
Prepare frying pan by heating butter until sizzling. Add shot of Grand Marnier (may flare up as alcohol burns off). Place fish in frying pan. Cook 5 to 7 minutes on each side. Fish will be done when it is golden brown and will flake easily with a fork.

Fish And Chips
Ingredients
2 pounds Northern Pike slice into fillets
2 c. pancake mix
Freshly squeezed juice of 1 lemon, seeds taken out
1 large egg
¼ c. vegetable oil
Ground white pepper and salt to taste
All purpose flour

Generate batter by combining pancake mix, lemon juice, salt, pepper and egg in large bowl. Batter can be thinned by putting a small amount of water or partly skimmed milk.
Prepare oil by heating in a skillet or a deep pan.
Make fillets by dusting with flour. Dip into batter. Put fillets into hot oil and cook until golden brown. Keep in mind to place fillets so that any oil will spatter away from you. Fish should flake with fork when cooked fully. Batter should be crunchy when cooked.
Offer fish with lemon slices, tartar sauce and fresh chips.
